Breathing Method School

The source of a swordsman's strength

Breathing techniques are combat techniques used by the swordsmen of the Demon Slayer Corps, which greatly enhance physical abilities through special breathing methods. Each breathing technique has unique moves (forms) that correspond to different natural elements. The Breath of the Sun is the strongest ancestral breathing technique, from which the five basic breathing techniques of water, thunder, flame, rock, and wind are derived.

Breath of the Sun

The oldest breathing technique, created by the founding swordsman, Kikoku Enichi. All other breathing techniques originate from this one. Only the Fire God's Dance, passed down through generations of the Tanjiro family, embodies the essence of this breathing technique.

Breath of Water

One of the five basic breathing techniques, this technique mimics the characteristics of water—flowing, smooth, flexible, and changeable. There are ten basic sword forms, and this is the breathing technique mainly used by Tanjiro.

Breath of Thunder

A breathing technique that emphasizes explosive power and lightning-fast advances. Originally there were six sword forms, but Zenitsu only mastered “Form One: Thunder Flash,” yet he was able to unleash its ultimate power.

Breath of Fire

A breathing technique that burns as fiercely as flames, its moves brimming with explosive power and destructive force. Enma, the master of this breathing technique, can unleash blazing sword energy.

Breath of the Rock

A breathing technique that emphasizes defense and solid strength. Using heavy weapons, the Rock Column Wailing Isle Walking Ghost can infuse rock-like strength into weapons.

Breath of the Wind

Create sharp wind blades to cut through your enemies. The attacks of the Wind Pillar, Shinobu Kocho, generate violent wind blades with a wide range of slashes.
